It takes a lot of money and expertise to develop futuristic cars, leading many companies to put off plans and invest their funds in other projects. As a result, some of the leading brands in the world have adapted and been open to change and new ideas on their strategic spending. Audi and Porsche are two of the most recent companies who are teaming up to create “the shared vehicle architecture of the future.”
The joint venture has implemented Audi CEO Rupert Stadler to note that, “The best brains of both companies will together set the course for the future.” Stadler added that the ultimate goal of the partnership is to “shape the mobility of the future together.” With the powerhouse forces behind both Audi and Porsche, the two are able to use each other’s knowledge and expertise to increase capabilities.
Chairman of the Board of Management of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume stated that, “Together, we will make faster progress in the race for the mobility of the future. We will utilize the expertise of both companies and take advantage of synergie we will cooperate wherever it makes sense.” In addition, Stadler added, “We are united by many shared values, above all, by our pursuit of the best solutions and the best offerings for our customers.”
In addition, the partnership will have the added bonus of allowing both car companies to cut their individual costs. Blume added that “If both [companies] would act on their own, costs would be 30 percent higher.” The idea for car companies to collaborate is not a new concept, but Porsche and Audi turning their attention to creating futuristic cars is something that is relatively new. It is said that the companies would like to bring new SUVs and sedans to the roads.
Regarding the moulding brands, they have every intention to stick to their own values and not divulge from their own plans. Blume finally added, “We will also be very careful to maintain the differentiation between our brands. A Porsche is always a Porsche, and that will remain so in the future.”
